The following question helps Mississinewa Community Schools identify students who are experiencing homelessness. Understanding the definition will ensure that children who may be experiencing homelessness are identified and given the chance to participate in programs that offer developmental and educational supports.

    Current Living Situation

Check the following condition that describes your child's living situation (which may be outside Grant County) as a result of being homeless:
    • Temporarily living with family or friends due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar reasons
    • Temporarily living in a motel, hotel, trailer park, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative accommodations
    • Living in an emergency or transitional shelter and/or awaiting foster care placement
    • Living in a place not designed as regular sleeping accommodations, such as a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, etc.
    • Living with a parent who is a migratory agricultural worker

If any of these situations apply to you, we can help.  Please contact Emily Bainter, our McKinney-Vento liason, at emily_bainter@olemiss.k12.in.us or 765-674-8528 ext 2242 for more information.
