    Club Information

FIRST Lego League is an exciting opportunity for students who enjoy design, building, engineering, and programming robots but are not a part of the school VEX Robotics teams.  The FIRST LEGO League at Northview consists of two divisions: FIRST LEGO and FIRST LEGO Jr.  Second and some third graders will participate in the junior division, while the upper grades will compete in the regular division.  Students will work alongside sponsors after school to address the LEGO challenge and will then compete with their robots during the winter and early spring.

    Eligibility

The FIRST LEGO League is open to second through fifth grade students who qualify based on the decision of the leadership team. Factors in eligibility will include student interest in building with Legos, social/emotional needs, and teacher recommendations. A selection process will be completed by the leadership team early in the school year. The student's grade level will determine in which program he or she will compete (regular or junior).

    Expectations

The students in FIRST LEGO League are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a spirit of teamwork. Students must have transportation home after practices and to and from events when necessary. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior in the classroom or during club time is grounds for dismissal from FIRST LEGO League.
